Documenting the journey leading up to my walk from Boston, MA to Washington, DC. Activism, News(ish), Discussion, and Search Engine Optimization. This blog is a notebook of ideas, politics, praxis, and life choices that I've run into as I'm exploring this zany world of activism. Think of each post as a page in a greater "book" or a road sign on a journey. -KC Hoye

Free School University Thank you and Community Outreach report back
THANK YOU for making the Occupy Boston Open House –IMMIGRATION – Community Gathering, 6/25/12 such a success!!!
Our evening began with great food brought from East Boston by David, who invited and coordinated our exceptional collective of community organizers and educators.
Lydia Edwards of BIC spoke started us off with a discussion focused on people who service our society: domestic workers: people, who clean, raise children. This sector also includes the people who create our food and electrical energy.

Everything I'm wrong about (so far)
Everything I'm wrong about... so far. (There's bound to me more).
![]() |
| Who WOULDN'T tweet about that? |
Let's begin with the obvious, I can't lay the blame at anyone's feet but my own. I totally called the wrong date on the anti-foreclosure law rally today. Everything was yesterday, I didn't pay attention to what was going on and I jumped the gun. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a dude standing alone with a sign.
Before getting into this any further, I feel it is necessary to let you know, I'm wrong. Alot. Like a really lot. That's kind of another reason (I'm finding) why I'm taking part in this zany process. I won't hide the fact that I'm wrong, as a matter of fact, I'll probably do something like this.
Anti-Foreclosure Law Rally on the Statehouse Steps 6/6/2012
Rally on the Statehouse Steps
Vida Urbana (City Life) (correction www.newroad.us) asks that you rally on the Massachusetts Statehouse Steps at 1 Ashburton Place today at 3:00PM EST to fight the early vote on a non-inclusive anti-foreclosure law.
UPDATE: Rally was scheduled "through the afternoon" today. The 3PM - 6PM time frame was for yesterday.
This morning at 2:30AM EST members of Occupy Boston and Vida Urbana (City Life) have "occupied" the Massachusetts Statehouse steps in order to "fight for a real anti-foreclosure law that doesn't let big banks off the hook" The official rally pops off at 3:00PM EST and will convene again at 6:00PM EST.

Events! Week of 4.8 - 4.15
Here's the rundown on some events that are going down in Boston this week, you can meet, greet, and get involved! (check links for resources on more)
Occupy Boston Action Assembly 4/8/2012 2:00PM
Ashburton ParkMassachusetts State House (Camp Charlie)
24 Beacon St.
Boston, MA
"Sunday, April 8, at 2pm at Camp Charlie, in front of the Occupied State House, Occupy Boston will hold a mock hearing on the MBTA. Bring/wear a suit or a reason why they should put the fares back … and a loud voice. After, we’re planning a “Back to the Future” event where we’ll try to remember what life was when we had trains."
From the Sideline... #OccupyMBTA requests we sign in to protest.
Not going to write about 603 CMR, instead I'm going to be Emo about #OccupyMBTA
I'd geared up, leaving the house early tonight at 9:30PM instead of 11:00PM like I normally would for my overnight shift working marketing. I walked up Comm. Ave through Kenmore on a usual route to Commonwealth Mall. It was nearing the midnight hour when I hit the now Occupy MBTA Beacon Hill encampment/ protest, Camp Charlie.
As usual, when I got to the camp, I was out of breath, the walk up Beacon St. from Charles kills me every time. I was stoked to see an opening on the steps, foot and back sore I took a seat. Maybe get a chance to talk to some cats that wouldn't sweat my crazy idea to walk to Washington. Posting up on the steps, chatting with a fellow by the name of John and coming to a brief understanding on context with a nod to past experiences at Dewey.

My UNexpected Return to Occupy Boston
I'd beat feet towards Dewey, the plan was to kill some time wiling away the miles maybe making Castle Island before the rain really started. I'd completely forgotten that Occupy Boston had something in the works. "Ships in the night" text messages with "Occu-observer" UNGregular himself aside, I'm a flake and had forgotten about the march earlier in the day. (At last word, a couple of cats had been arrested, and bail is being made?)
